Jokes for Sudan is a benefit comedy show at Zanies Chicago on March 3, created to support families in El Fasher, Sudan, who are being displaced by ongoing violence. 100% of ticket proceeds, along with additional funds raised through a GoFundMe, will go directly toward supporting displaced civilians.
It will be an incredible night of laughter, featuring special surprise guest comedians some you may recognize from Netflix or HBO Max.
The show is produced and hosted by Samir Abdul, a Chicago-based stand-up comedian, writer, and producer, and is co-produced in collaboration with Northwestern University’s Center for Responsible Technology, Policy, and Public Dialogue. Born in Darfur, Sudan, Samir uses comedy to bring people together, blending sharp political humor with personal storytelling rooted in immigration, identity, and family.
This night turns laughter into direct support, using comedy to make a real-world impact.
