Douglas Ekman, Former Ad man, Contributing Writer for SNL and George Carlin premieres his one man show honoring iconic comedian and actor Pat Buttram at Zanies Comedy Club on Wells. Buttram, is famous for the role of Mr. Haney on the television show Green Acres. Buttram began his career in Chicago on radio and later became singing cowboy Gene Autry’s sidekick in movies.
Ekman wrote with Buttram and directed him in commercials and together did personal appearances for many years. Ekman shares never before heard stories from Buttram in a perfect Pat Buttram and Mr. Haney voice, so that for 90 minutes they both still live.
Ekman will also share with the audience his own early career of doing comedy, writing for Carlin, Dangerfield, SNL and performing his own satirical brand of comedy when he opened for acts like The James Brown Band. Ekman hosted radio and TV shows during his long career and continues to enjoy success as a voice over and on camera actor and spokesperson. This is a very relaxed show suitable for people of all ages. There will also be a question and answer time at the end of the show.
